Being the animal lover that I am I found myself constantly looking for information about the World Trade Center rescue dogs. Thanks to The Scoop, I have been rewarded. Many of these pictures are from The Scoop's website.
Stop by their site for more pictures & info.

update: as more time passes I am pleased to see more sites for rescue dogs appearing.

Tascha came from Ohio to aid in the rescue effort. Her handler is Gary Flynn. Tascha was one of the many dogs who needed to receive fluids by IV.

Worf is also from Ohio, he located the bodies of 2 missing firefighters on the first day.
Working at Ground Zero traumatized him so badly that he is now retired.

This is Guese; notice the bandage on his left paw. He is a cadaver dog who came from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources with his handler John Patrick.

Another rescue dog, hard at work.

update: the dog being transported is Riley from Pennsylvania
handled by firefighter Chris Selfridge

If anyone knows these dogs please let me know so that they can be named.

FACT: Rescue dogs are rewarded upon finding what they search for. This was hard for the dogs working at Ground Zero since they were not finding any survivors. The dogs were rewarded anyway in order to keep their spirits up.  Volunteers also took turns hiding among the piles, allowing the dogs to find someone alive, to help keep their enthusiasm for work high.
